Season the steak:Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the steak.
Cook the steak:Warm a dish with oil. Cook the steak for 3–5 minutes on each side (or until cooked the way you like). Expel and rest for 5 minutes.
Cook the onion:Within the same container, include cut onion. Cook until delicate and brilliant brown.
Cut the steak:Cut the steak into lean cuts.Toast the bread:
Choose a thin cut – Thin meat will cook more quickly and is less difficult to eat in your sandwich.
Rest the steak – Once you finish cooking, set the steak aside for 5 minutes before you serve it. It keeps the meat rich in juices.
Cut the steak in the opposite direction of the lines (against the grain). It softens the meat and improves its texture while chewing.
Pre-sliced greens – Purchase or slice onions, lettuce and tomatoes in advance to speed up preparation.
Toasting the bread ever so slightly – Pre-toasting lets the bread stay crispy and dry.
With leftover steak – Use the rest of your steak for family meals.
Serve the steak with melted cheese – Sprinkle the cheese on the hot steak so it melts.
Pick one or more of these easy sauces – mayo, mustard or BBQ sauce – to add more taste with less effort.
Try one-pan cooking – put the steak and onions in the pan at the same time to save effort.
If packing ahead, use foil to wrap and keep the sandwich delightful and fresh
