Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • ½ tbsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tbsp salt

Instructions
 

  • The first part of making a sandwich is to prepare the dough.In a big bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer until it turns light and airy.
  • Add Molasses, Egg and Vanilla: Slowly beat the molasses, egg and vanilla extract until they are well blended.In a different bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt by using a whisk.
  • Add the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt gradually to the eggs and oil mixture, stirring until the mixture solidifies into a dough. Do not mix the dough too much or else the texture might turn tough.
  • Allow the dough to rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.Cut the dough into half and shape each half into a flat disk.Put the disks in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap for 1 hour or longer. Rolling becomes easier and the meat keeps its shape if it is chilled.
