Cuban sandwich Recipe

Layers of roast pork, gammon, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard are pressed between Cuban bread to create the warm Cuban sandwich. It offers the ideal balance of savoury, tangy, and cheesy flavours and is crispy on the outside and melty on the inside.

Equipment

  • 1 Grill press or panini press
  • 1 Skillet or griddle
  • 1 Bread knife
  • 1 Spatula or tongs

Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf Cuban bread or French bread
  • 4 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 4 slices cooked ham
  • 4 slices roast pork
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 dill pickle slices
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions
 

  • Cut the Cuban bread evenly and spread yellow mustard on both sides.
  • Layer ham, cook pork, Swiss cheese, and pickles on the foot half of the bread.
  • Near the sandwich and gently butter the exterior of the bread.
  • Warm a skillet or panini press over medium warm.
  • Put the sandwich within the skillet and press it down with another overwhelming dish or a flame broil press.
  • Flame broil for approximately 4–5 minutes on each side until the bread is firm and the cheese is softened.
  • Evacuate from warm, cut askew, and serve warm.

Notes

Cut the Cuban bread on a level plane and spread yellow mustard on both sides.
